ABOUT
Hitam is an Amsterdam-based artist, label owner and resident of Eerste Communie, whose work bridges deep techno, ambient, and avant-garde experimentalism. Sculpting sound from its most granular level, he builds immersive sonic architectures where precision and intensity exist in restraint.
His releases span forward-thinking labels such as Hayes, Somov, and 47, alongside a growing body of work on his own imprint Rhiza Semar, a platform shaped around three guiding pillars: geological, ritualistic, and esoteric. These themes extend into his graphic design work and overall world building, where texture, landscape, and ritual are treated as parallel expressions of the same continuum.
With sets at Tresor, Bassiani, De School, K41, Awakenings and more, Hitam channels a sound world that oscillates between hypnotic propulsion and contemplative depth. By combining organic and synthetic sources like field recordings, fragmented samples, modular synthesis, and rhythmic minimalism his music seeks to reconnect the past and the present, guiding the listener through aural terrains that are both familiar and unknown.
